Nitmiluk Tours has kicked off 2018 with a brilliant result at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards 2017. The prestigious awards ceremony was held at Perth Stadium in February 2018 and is the tourism industry’s peak awards. Nitmiluk Tours is elated to be acknowledged for their excellence in tourism by taking out silver in the Luxury Accommodation category for Cicada Lodge, and a bronze in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Tourism category.
“These wins are a recognition of both the commitment of our team in the delivery of a highly professional and authentic cultural tourism product, and to the growth and significance of Aboriginal tourism to the overall Australian tourism economy” said Jane Runyu-Fordimail, CEO Nitmiluk Tours. “As a proud Jawoyn woman receiving this award on behalf of the team at Nitmiluk Tours and all of the Jawoyn people, this is a recognition of our people, our culture and our passion to share our culture, our land and our traditions”.
The win ranks Cicada Lodge as the second best luxury property in Australia – after Saffire Freycinet. This is an incredible result for a remote destination boutique property – the only Aboriginal owned luxury property of its kind!
