Jawoyn Association

When the Jawoyn people first won back Nitmiluk in 1989, many feared it would mean the end of tourism in the gorge.

This was far from our minds as we have always been happy to share our country and show people how much it means to us.

Our elders had a vision to oversee Nitmiluk and manage all tourist operations in the park which is how Nitmiluk Tours was born.

100% Jawoyn owned, Nitmiluk Tours runs the visitor information centre, boat and canoe operations, the campground, Cicada Lodge and operations at Leliyn (Edith Falls).

The success of Nitmiluk tours has ensured money has been invested in the Jawoyn Association to fund important services and programs and support employment and training in tourism and land management.

Parks & Wildlife Commission (Nitmiluk)

In joint management with the Jawoyn people, Parks & Wildlife Commission ensures the conservation of Nitmiluk National Park, maintaining its pristine beauty and the life that relies so heavily on the environment.

Protecting not only the environment but the art and artefacts within the Park is something Parks and Wildlife do so well and we are grateful for their partnership in doing so.

Tourism NT

As the Territory’s largest employing industry (estimated 12% or 16,300 Territorians directly and indirectly) of the NT workforce, tourism is vital to the state’s economy.

Our partnership with Tourism NT ensures that the tourism industry continues to thrive by enticing visitors to visit and stay longer within the Northern Territory.

Tourism Top End

Focusing on the more regional areas that incorporate Katherine, Douglas and Daly River, Timber Creek and Victoria River and Borroloola and the Gulf region, Tourism Top End helps to draw visitors to the Top End region of the Northern Territory.

Tourism Top End helps us to promote the Katherine region and spread the word about the spectacular beauty and culture to be found at Nitmiluk.

Discover Aboriginal Experiences

A collective of quality, authentic Aboriginal guided tourism offerings, Discover Aboriginal Experiences is part of Tourism Australia’s Signature Experiences of Australia Program that packages and promotes Australia’s outstanding tourism products to the rest of the world.

As a member of Discover Aboriginal Experiences, we can ensure that the authentic Aboriginal experiences we offer at Nitmiluk are made available to tourists from all over the globe.

Ecotourism Australia

Ecotourism Australia (EA) is a not-for-profit organisation focused on inspiring environmentally sustainable and culturally responsible tourism. Designing and delivering certification programs for tourism products, representing more than 500 environmentally responsible ecotourism operators and 1600 products across Australia.
